Art 3 Painting & Drawing and Art 3 Sculpture provide the more serious art student with the opportunity to produce art that reflects their prior knowledge and emphasizes a higher level of
sophistication of the production, projects, and skills required in
previous courses. It is an advanced course in which students will be
building on the knowledge gained in Art 1 and 2. Students will continue to refine technical
skills in a variety of media and deepen their understanding of art themes and
concepts. In addition they will learn to
develop quality and mastery in their work and concepts through research,
experimentation, proper composition through the use of the Elements of
Art and Principles of Design, as well as proper construction techniques. Students will strive to develop their own
personal style. The course will address a
variety of approaches to planning, creating and critiquing artworks. Thinking and articulating personal ideas both in writing
and in verbal critique/ discussions with the teacher, peers, and other groups
is a part of this class.
Students
enrolled must show a high level of motivation, independence, and ability to
work on their own, both in and outside of class. Expanding one’s knowledge of
artists and art history will be demonstrated during the year.
